Today, ensuring food security, maintaining price stability in the domestic market, and meeting the population’s demand for essential consumer goods are of great importance. In this context, the entire process — from rice cultivation to delivery to the final consumer — has been analyzed.

According to the analysis conducted by the Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under the Competition Committee, the annual demand for rice in the country is approximately 368 thousand tons. At the same time, domestic production volumes are sufficient to meet existing demand.

The analysis shows that in the rice market:
- consumer demand is largely met through domestic production
- the market has a high level of saturation with local products
- the share of imports remains relatively low

It was also found that the main share of rice production in the country comes from the Khorezm, Syrdarya, Fergana, and Andijan regions.

During the analysis, rice prices in international markets were also studied. According to the data, global rice prices vary significantly across countries. While some countries have the lowest price levels, the highest prices are observed in countries such as Japan, the USA, and Canada.

At the same time, calculations based on economic models indicate that there is no sharp upward trend in rice prices. According to forecasts, in the absence of external and internal shocks, market prices are expected to remain stable in the coming months.

- How is demand for rice forming in the domestic market?
- How do import and export operations affect the market?
- What factors influence the cost of rice production?

Answers to these questions and a detailed analysis are available on our website.
