Iodine and iodine compounds market analyzed
The Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under the Competition Committee studied the competitive environment in the iodine and iodine compounds market, as well as the level of saturation of the domestic market with locally produced goods.
According to the analysis results:
Imports: in 2024, 38 companies imported iodine and iodine compounds from 13 countries totaling USD 6.4 million (140 tons).
Main import shares: The top 5 importing companies accounted for 67% of total imports.

- Germany — 28%
- Russia — 20%
- Other countries — 9%
In 2024, there were no exports.
Domestic production: in 2024, 5 companies produced iodine and iodine compounds worth 21 billion UZS (44 tons).
Saturation level: according to calculations, the domestic market saturation with local products amounted to 23.7%.
It should be noted that under current regulations, a market is considered saturated when this показатель exceeds 80%.
Conclusion: domestic production in the iodine and iodine compounds market remains insufficient. At the same time, demand for these products remains high, indicating opportunities for expanding production capacity and implementing new investment projects.
